Paul A Reitz

March 31, 1926 ~ August 1, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

 

Paul A. Reitz, 91, of 218 N. 4th St. Sunbury, PA passed away at Evangelical Community Hospital on August 1, 2017. He was born in Hunter’s Station on March 31, 1926 the son of the late Alvin and Ida Lizzie (Rebuck)Reitz.

Paul attended Shamokin Schools. In 1945 he joined the US Army serving honorably during WWII as a squad leader for Company F 112th Infantry 28th Division. He saw action in the Battle of the Bulge and later servedwith the occupying force in Germany.

Paul was trained as diesel mechanic at Williamsport Tech and worked for thirty-two and a half years at Cummen Diesel in Ashland, PA. He married Helen L. Gurtner who passed in 1980.

Paul was a gentle man, a loving husband and father, and a good friend. He loved tinkering and building things and never ran out of interesting projects to keep him busy during his many years of retirement. He also enjoyed gardening and he was a wonderful cook. He was always very proud of his son who loved him very much. Paul loved the Lord Jesus Christ and his life’s decisions were guided by his Christian values. He was a great guy and he always had a kind word for everyone he met.

Paul was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church of Sunbury.

Paul is survived by his son Robert A. Reitz of Sunbury and nephews Paul and Kerry Williard.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Jeffrey P. Reitz (1965), brothers Norman and Harlan Reitz, and sister Mary Williard.

Friends and family may visit the Zion Lutheran Church at the corner of 5th and Market Sts. Sunbury, PA on Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 1 to 2 pm., a funeral service will follow at 2 pm. with the Rev. Richard Fangmannofficiating. Interment will be at the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, PA.
