David, Jr. after graduating from Shikellamy High School, attended Miami University Mortuary School for 24 months and attained his associate degree in Business and Funeral Service.  While in School he worked for Fannon Funeral Home in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.   Dave started his career in Sunbury July of 1973, with his father. Then he became active in his community serving on the Local Red Cross, Salvation Army and Drug & Alcohol Boards.  Also serving on his church board, teaching Sunday School, member & past officer of the Sunbury Jaycees and past President of the Sunbury Lions Club. He volunteered as coach of local baseball & baskeball teams . Dave did many presentations for Funeral service at Schools, Churches, Clubs and gave many tours at the funeral home.  He was involved with many local Pastors doing Grief Sharing workshops for those who lost Loved Ones.  Also speaking to many students who thought they may go into funeral service.  Dave also took the time to have 5 Funeral Sevice Interns, so they could futher their future in the business.  He was the second Funeral Director in our state to get his certification in Funeral Service from the Academy of Funeral Service Practice in 1987 and continues to get recertified every year.  Dave & the funeral home were honored in the Who's Who in Business in the U.S.  Favorite hobbies are golfing, hunting & Bible Study.  Helping his friends whenever he can.  Taking one hobby to the pinnacle of becoming a professional golf instructor in 2000.  Dave has had some Golf  Instruction articles published in the Golf Illustrated Magazine.  Dave loves to help people in all aspects of life.

David, Sr. has 66 yrs. experince and has been very active in the community with church, Masonic Lodge, service clubs and helping out in his neighborhood, spending most of his life at the funeral home waiting on and serving all our families in Sunbury the old fashioned way by being at the funeral home.

Michael Splain

Michael purchased the Zweier Funeral Home January 01, 2019.  He has been a licensed funeral director since 2004 and also owns and operates the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home in Northumberland.
