Katherine S (Swartzlander) Bailets

Katherine S. Bailets, 87, of 5th St. Northumberland, PA passed away at her home on October 15, 2016. Katherine was born in Middleburg, PA on June 24, 1929 the daughter of the late Ira “Raymond” and Essie Bell (Nace) Swartzlander.

Katherine graduated from Sunbury High School and was very active in the class of 1947.

Katherine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northumberland. She worked her entire career in telephone/communications services beginning as an operator with Bell Telephone and retiring as a supervisor.

Katherine served as a volunteer with the Sunbury Hospital Axillary; you would see her at the Love ‘n Care Street Fair annually. She also volunteered as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. She enjoyed staying in shape and traveling. She was a basketball fan enjoying Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls and Paul Pierce’s Boston Celtics. She also rooted for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Katherine is survived by her son Ralph L. Bailets and his wife Janice M. Sims of Philadelphia, PA, her sister Nancy Feeney of Lewisburg, and nephew Scott Feeney. nephew Robert Dorman’s wife Patty Dorman, their son Craig Dorman and his son Cory Dorman.  

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ruth Dorman and nephew Robert Dorman.
 

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 pm. at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury, PA. with Pastor Pat Pittsnogle officiating.
