James "Jesse" E Snyder

My name is James “Jesse” E. Snyder, 55, of Sunbury; I was born into the ring on December 22, 1961 the son of Marlin Snyder and his wife Nancy (Weir). I attended and graduated from Shikellamy High School and SUN Area Vo-Tech in 1979.

My parents and two siblings preceded me in passing, Larry Snyder and Nancy Huntington. I am survived by Howard Snyder of Millersburg, Pat and Jim Wolfgang of Ashland, Roger Snyder of Northumberland and Don and Dona Snyder of Danville.

As a young quick witted counter puncher the early rounds were all mine, winning easily; some time in the middle of the bout, time was on the comeback. My left was dropping, my jab slowing, the punches coming faster and landing more often.

The tide was turning. “Let’s go Jesse, this is the one, you can do it.”

I fought with all I had giving my best, but my opponent was tireless. Entering the final round, hands heavy, short of breath, steps slow and staggered. Just when I thought all was lost and the eight count fell, I found myself, arms raised in victory before the Lord.
