Ethelmae (Geist) Wise

Ethelmae Wise, 96, of 800 Court St. Sunbury, PA, formerly of 1014 Spruce Street, passed away on November 24, 2016 at ManorCare, Sunbury.  Ethelmae was born on September 13, 1920 the daughter of the late George F. and Alice A. (Stapelton) Geist.  
Ethelmae graduated Sunbury High School and married the late Samuel O. Wise on July 7, 1947.
She was a wife, mother and homemaker.  She did work for a time at the Sunbury Silk Mill.  She enjoyed Boston Terriers and relaxing her summers along the Susquehanna River in their cabin and spending time at the Bluebird Gardens in Sunbury.  Her first husband, James Hockenberry, died on December 18, 1944 during WWII's Battle of the Bulge. 
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Ethelmae is survived by daughters-in-law Ethel L. Hockenberry of St. Michaels, MD, and Marge Wise of Northumberland, grandchildren Gina Parchman and Sharon Hockenberry both of MD, great grandchildren Maggie and Austin Parchman, and sister Luella Reitz of Sunbury and neices and nephews. 
She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sons James Hockenberry and Steven A. Wise, grand daughter Susan Kay Hockenberry Keener,  infant sister Arbella and brothers: Theodore, William, and Henry.
Friends and family may visit at the ManorCare Activity Room 800 Court St. Sunbury, PA on Tuesday November 29, 2016 from 10 am. until the time of the 11 am funeral service.  Interment will follow at Herndon Cemetery, Herndon, PA.
