Daniel W Rose

Daniel W. Rose, 89, of 209 S. 10th St., Sunbury, PA passed away at his home on November 15, 2016.  Daniel was born in Selinsgrove on October 8, 1927 the son of the late Grant O. and Daisy C. (Kline) Rose.
Daniel graduated Sunbury High School in 1946 and joined the US Army soon after.  He served his country with distinction and loved the Army and military service.  He was an E7 Gunnery Sgt serving two tours in the Korean Conflict and one in the Vietnam War retiring after twenty years of military service.
After his career with the Army, Daniel worked as a laborer with the Sunbury Silk Mills and retired from there as well.  He was a life member of a number of organizations:  the Goodwills Hose Company, the Sunbury Eagles, the American Legion Post 201, the Sunbury VFW, the Sunbury MOOSE, and the Union County Sportsman's Club where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddies.
Daniel is survived by many relatives and friends:  sister-in-law Cleda Rose of Northumberland, sister Betty Bordner and her son Bob of Turbotville, sister Amelia Buckles of Sunbury, many nieces and nephews and good friend Mike Long of Sunbury.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Elmer Rose, Harold Rose, Homer Rose, Francis "Franky" Rose, Ervin Rose, Harry R. Rose, John Rose, and Bertha George.
Friends and family may visit at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc., 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury, PA on Saturday, November 19, 2016,  from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am. with Mr. Richard Simpson speakng.  Interment will follow at Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, PA.
