Barbara J (Treon) Black

Barbara J. Black, 81, of 1314 Line St. Sunbury, PA, formerly a resident of Nottingham Village in Northumberland, passed away at the Sunbury Community Hospital on January 9, 2017. Barbara was born in Lewisburg, PA on January, 6, 1936 the daughter of the late Donald and Florence (Royer) Treon. She married William J. Black on September 29, 1957 who survives.

Barbara graduated Sunbury High School in 1953. She worked at Miller’s Furniture in Sunbury early in her life, she then was a secretary at Shikellamy High School retiring after many years. She found her greatest joy at home rearing her family, then loving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching high school football, the Sunbury Mercuries, camping, picnicking, watching the birds at her feeder, and playing pinocle with friends. She served as a Girl Scout leader in Sunbury for many years.

Barbara is survived by her husband, daughters Kim (husband Roger) Trimpey of Danville, and Sue (husband Craig) Dressler of Middleburg, grandchildren Jeremy (wife Miranda) Trimpey, Elise (husband Adam) Wert, Amanda (husband Issac) Ulmer, Cady (husband Thane) Seaman, and Wayne Dressler, great grandchildren: Destiny, Addalyn, Abigail, Jase, Noah, Derek, Hope, Cassie, Justin, and Jaxson. Also surviving are brother John (wife Mary Jean) Treon of Yardley, Mollie (husband Terry) Farester of Dallas, TX and brother-in-law Jim (wife Carol) Black of Selinsgrove.

Barbara was preceded in death by her grandson Jason Trimpey.

There will be a private graveside service. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at the family home at 1314 Line St. Sunbury, PA at 2 pm. on January 21, 2017.

The family wishes to express a heart felt thanks to the nursing staff and doctors at Sunbury Hospital who went above and beyond in caring for Barbara and her family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sunbury Community Hospital 350 N. 11th St. Sunbury, PA 17801.
