Paul C. Vanatta, 94, of 319 Third Street Northumberland Pa. passed away Saturday April 18th at Geisinger Medical Center Danville Pa. surrounded by his daughter and son.
He was born June 7th 1925 the son of the late Harry & Rosella (Long) Vanatta. He attended Mifflinburg high school graduating in 1942. After graduation he entered the US Navy in 1943-1946. Proudly serving in WW II. On September 8th 1956 he married the former Mabel Dewire. Her passing in 2012 ended a marital union of 56 years. He worked for 31 years at Young Door company in Sunbury Pa. as a supervisor before retiring in 1987. He was a member of St John Luthern Church Northumberland Pa.
He enjoyed a lifetime of bowling and especially his trips to bowling tournaments with the guys in the motorhome. He was a member of the Pa state bowling hall of fame. He was a member of the Masonic lodge..VFW..Legion..and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Paul is survived by a daughter Connie (Vanatta) Minium and her husband Herbie. Also a son Alan Vanatta and his wife Maren. He is also survived by a brother Harold and a sister Irene. He is survived by six granchildren. Lloyd..Zach..Zoe`..Carrie ..Carolyn & Sean. Also six great grandchildren Ashley..Becca..Ryan..Paige..Aaron & Joshua. Paul was proceeded in death by his parents Harry & Rosella. His wife Mabel and a son Steven who passed in 2010. Paul was also preceded in death by 2 brothers Russell & Earnest..and a daugher Kay who passed at birth. Funeral services will be private at this time. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Zweier Funeral Home of Sunbury Pa. The family would like to thank the drs and nurses at GMC CICU for the wonderful care they gave him while he was there.
