Park L. Bitting

Sunbury - Park L. Bitting, 77 of S. Tenth Street passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at ManorCare.
He was born November 6, 1941 in Newport a son of the Lehman Herbert and Ethel (Murphy) Bitting. In 1986 he married the former Dolores I. Freeze who preceded him in death in 2013.
Park was a graduate of Newport High School. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Mr. Bitting gained employment with Glen Gery Brick, later Wood Mode, Inc., from where he retired and later Advance Auto Parts, retiring again.
Park was an avid sports fan following NASCAR, particularly Bill Elliott and all Pittsburgh teams especially his beloved Steelers.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert W. and Linda D. Gemberling of Sunbury, Kory and Cathy Bitting of Freeburg, four daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle E. and Michael D. Hart of Sunbury, Penny S. and Troy D. Stover of Sunbury, Karen and Carl Bitting Carr of Selinsgrove, Pam and Tim Bitting of Selinsgrove, 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one sister, Janice Bitting Howell of Newport.
In addition to his wife and parents, Park was preceded in death by one son, Hoy A. Riegel III, two brothers, Ivan "Sam" and Wayne "Peach" Bitting and one sister, Sally Bitting Snyder.
Friends and family may visit from noon to 1:00pm Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Street, Sunbury followed by a memorial service at 1:00pm.
