Lydia Gomez, 85, of Selinsgrove, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 19, 2025.
She was born on March 29, 1940, in Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Bonifacio Gomez and Dominga Robledo.
Lydia worked as a seamstress and took great pride in her craft. Later in life, she served as a foster grandmother for 4 1/2 years, a role she embraced with warmth and care.
Lydia enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: watching baseball, sewing by hand, praying, and cooking meals for those she loved.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law: Maritza Garcia, Rosa and Daniel Finch; grandchildren David and Erika Garcia, Stephen, Shaneece, Taneeka and O’Neill Thompson, Maegan and Hammer Heilig, and Sierra.
Great grandchildren Dominik, Abigail, Gabriella; Jackson, Jaelyn; Angel, Giani, Aniya; Tatiana, Tamlyn, Christopher, Cynette, Xavier; Marcel, Gracie-Mae, and Layla.
Survived by her sister, Marguerita Lopez and brother, Flor A. Lopez. Lydia was preceded in death by her brother, MiguelA. Lopez.
Lydia's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 4, at 12:00 p.m. at Higher Hope Church, 1000 Race Street, Sunbury.
