John Herman Obituary


Northumberland - John W. "Jack" Herman, 91, a resident of Heather Court and formerly of West Green Street, Shiremanstown, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Jack was born August 7, 1928 in Sunbury.
He attended Sunbury Schools.
Jack married the former Margaret Rose Hoffman who preceded him in death.
He was a diesel mechanic and employed by Halls Motor Transit in Sunbury and later Mechanicsburg.
Jack was a talented woodworker who especially enjoyed building bird houses. He was a dependable neighbor always helping by clearing their driveways with his snowblower.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Laurene L. and Dennis W. Kohler of Shiremanstown, daughter-in-law Nancy (Stroup) Herman, grandchildren Corey Herman, Jessica Kerstetter and Stephanie Kohler, great-grandchildren Parker, Paige, Megan and Aaron, sister Helen Fenstermacher, and sister-in-law Pat Herman.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his son John W. Herman and brothers George and Ben Herman.
Friends and family may visit Friday from 10:00am - 11:00am at the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Street, Sunbury. A graveside service will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington with Rev. Andrew Weaver officiating.
