Jack Neidig Obituary

Jack R. Neidig, 81, of Sunbury passed away Monday, February 15, 2021.

Jack was born April 25, 1939, the son of the late Harry and Kathryn (Wise) Neidig. On August 7, 1964, he married Janet Klock-Neidig, who survives.

He graduated from the Sunbury High School class of 1957. Jack played high school football and he spent many of his younger years working milk routes for the family dairy. He retired from PennDOT in 2001.

Jack was a devoted husband, outstanding father and genuine friend to many.

Jack had the special gift of always taking time for others. Whether it was to lend a hand with a project or just to stop by to see how you were doing, he never missed the chance to spend time with family, neighbors or friends. He rarely had idle hands and he was happiest when he was hard at work.

He was an avid outdoorsman with many stories about fishing trips to Canada, playing cards at the cabin or fun times on the river or in the woods. He also enjoyed gardening, rides on the 4-wheeler and feeding his pet fish in his neighbor’s pond. His favorite winter pastime was cracking walnuts to give to his baker friends.

Jack was a life member of the Friendship Hose Company and Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of numerous other organizations.

In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack Jrand Kandi of Montandon and Jason and Cassie of Northumberland and two granddaughters Mylea and Carly Neidig.

Friends and family may participate in a graveside service at the Herndon Cemetery, Fourth and N. Main Street, at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 20.

Arrangements are by the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Street, Sunbury.
