Gary Campbell Obituary

Sunbury - Gary Richard "Rich" Campbell, 78, of Catawissa Avenue, passed away January 7, 2020 at UPMC Sunbury.  
Rich was born July 12, 1941 in RD 1 Sunbury a son of the late Harry C. and Sarah (Conrad) Campbell. In June of 1988 he married the former Georgia A. (Ressler) Weidner who survives.
He was a 1959 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School.  After graduation he joined the Army and proudly served in the 82nd Airborne 8th Infantry in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1962.  Rich was employed for 40 years at AMS Port Trevorton and retired from Penn Lyon Homes, Selinsgrove in 2008.
Mr. Campbell was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Sunbury where he served on the Trustees, Nursery School/Day Care Board as well as participating in many other church activities.
As an avid outdoorsman, Rich had a great love of hunting and fishing. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife of 31 years, he is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Holly and Dane Rumberger of Millerstown, Heidi Landis of Sunbury, step children, Cathy Duncan of San Antonio, TX and Michael Weidner of Quakertown, grandchildren, Franklin (Kayla) Elsessor, Jeremiah (Emily) Elsessor all of Millerstown, Ryan, Kyle and Stephanie Duncan of San Antonio, TX, great-grandchildren Tyler and Jayce Duncan and Abigail Elsessor, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Homer and Edna Campbell of North Carolina, David and JoAnne Campbell of Sunbury, one sister, Vivian Inch of Selinsgrove and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sons-in-law Poss Elsessor and Michael Duncan, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Harry and Noreen Campbell, Walter Campbell, two sisters and three brothers-in-law Sylvia and Ed Shingara, Alice and John Reigle, Gerald Inch.
Friends and family may call Friday, January 10, 2020 from 10:00am-11:00am at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 356 Vine St., Sunbury where funeral services will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Leslie Halchak officiating.  
Burial with military honors will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
In lieu of flowers donations in Rich's memory may be made to his church, Otterbein United Methodist Church, 356 Vine Street, Sunbury, PA 17801
Arrangements are by the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Street, Sunbury.
