Shamokin Dam - Fredrick W. Burkart, 83, of Old Trail passed away Tuesday, December 29, at Riverwoods in Lewisburg where he had been resident.
Fredrick was born October 25, 1937 in Philadelphia a son of the late Fredrick and Mary (Wright) Burkart. February 3, 1962 he married the former Mary J. Teisher who survives.
He attended Bartram High School in Philadelphia and served in the U.S. Military following high school. He was later employed by PP&L.
Fredrick was a member of Shamokin Dam United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed working on cars.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Joy and Todd Mabus of Shamokin Dam, two grandchildren Ryan and his wife Erin Vrabel of Selinsgrove and Casey Vrabel of Selinsgrove, three great grandchildren Kaitlynn, Mason and Hayden, brother and sister-in-law William "Bill" and Sue Burkart of Abington, sister Mary Jane Mann of Upper Chichester and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Anna May Haines and two nephews.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 31 at 12pm in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
