Edward F. Eichner, 79, of Second Street, Sunbury, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Ed was born Feb. 25, 1941, in Sunbury, a son of the late William and Thelma (Bucher) Eichner. On Dec. 18, 1965, he married the former Jean A. Bickel who preceded him in death in 2007.
He was a graduate of Sunbury High School. Ed was a mechanic and employed for 40 some years by J.R. Eister Garage.
Ed was a life member of the Sunbury Steam Fire Engine Company No. 1 where he served as past chief from 1971-1981.
He will also be remembered for his love of working on cars, NASCAR and hunting.
Ed is survived by his two sons, Russell and William Eichner, both of Sunbury; his sister, Linda Treaster of Lewisburg; his grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Eichner Jr. in 2010; his brother, Robert Eichner; and his sister, Dorothy Klingman.
Friends and family may visit from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, June 12, at the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, where the funeral service will follow at noon.
Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. All guests are asked to follow the social distancing guidelines and wear a mask.
