Doris Shaffer Obituary

Doris Jean (Carr) Shaffer, of Northumberland went home to be with her Lord on January 15, 2021.  Doris, “Dory” was 86 at the time of her passing.  She is survived by her loving husband, Morris, “Dink” Shaffer of 66 years as well as her two daughters and their husbands, Jeanne Reid (Will) and Michele Fink (Tim); grandchildren, Jennifer Frymoyer, Keith Schleig, Jr., Abigail Fink and Aaron Fink.  She was blessed with five great grandchildren, Dominik Biddinger, Brianna Frymoyer, Marlie Schleig, Jaxon Shiffer, Wyatt Schleig; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Roy J. and Maxine (Barnhart) Carr in addition to nine brothers and one sister.  Doris passed at home surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with cancer.  Dory graduated as an “Owl” from Sunbury High School.  During her life she worked at Halls Motors, various banking and retail industries, and the former Rea & Derrick (now CVS).  She concluded her professional career to help raise Abigail and Aaron.  She took great pride in her yard and gardening.  She had quite the green thumb!  Doris decorated beautiful cakes to celebrate special events in her family’s lives.  She cared for her family in a loving, compassionate manner.  Family was everything to her.  She took pleasure in listening to music by the Gaithers.  Services will be private at this time. Arrangements are by the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Street, Sunbury.
