Carol Rena (Fausey) Sleighter

Sunbury – Carol Rena Fausey Sleighter, 79, of Sunbury, passed away at 12:05pm, Thursday, November 28, 2019 in Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
She was born July 29, 1940 in the Mary M. Packer Hospital in Sunbury, a daughter to the late George Lawrence and Ruth Helen (Meiser) Fausey.  She married the late George Warren Sleighter on July 9, 1977.
Carol graduated from Shikellamy High School in 1958 and later from the Thompson Business School in 1960.  She worked various jobs until she found a career with the PA Department of Education in Harrisburg, where she worked as a secretary until her retirement after more than 30 years of service.
Carol was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church, Spruce Street, Sunbury where she could be found working tirelessly with the children and youth preparing for many musical performances and Christmas plays. She also was a leader of the Leaders Club of Grace Church.
She enjoyed playing piano and teaching her nieces, Tina and Anita and nephew, Dennis, to play. Carol also spent much of her time helping her mother care for her brother Dale.
Carol spent many hours researching the Fausey and Meiser genealogy. She loved gardening and growing flowers in her gardens and also caring for her pets; Taffy, Sadie and Jinx.
Carol is survived by her brothers, Donald, Dale and Lawrence Fausey and by nieces, Tina Lehman and Anita Glickenstein and nephews, Dennis and Kevin Fausey.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Darwin Fausey and her pets; Taffy, Sadie and Jinx.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, December 7 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 120 Spruce Street, Sunbury followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00pm with Pastor Tom Glasoe officiating.
Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
