Carmen Garcia Obituary


Selinsgrove - Carmen T. Garcia, 79 of Eleventh Street passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at UPMC, Sunbury.
Carmen was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on July 5, 1940 a daughter of the late Pilar and Carmen (Ducot) Lopez.  She was married to Carlos H. "Charlie'" Garcia who survives.
Mrs. Garcia was employed as the secretary to the director of the New York City Board of Education. She later received a Doctorate in Theology while in New York City.
Carmen attended the Love Chapel Church in Brooklyn, NY and was the co-founder of the Love Chapel Christian Outreach, Selinsgrove.  
She was an avid reader, particularly of the Word of God, who enjoyed studying her Bible.  She loved to relax and sit in her Easy Chair watching the news and the Golden Girls.  Her greatest joy came while spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Carmen is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Sherry Rodriguez of Sunbury, David and Gigi Garcia of Selinsgrove, grandchildren, Frank B. and Shantel J. Rodriguez, David C. and Stephen P. Garcia and Shaneece E. Johns, her many great-grandchildren, including, Tyler Kitchen, Angel and Giani Zuviri, one brother, Angelo Utsett, two sisters, Shirley Cintron, Rosa Gonzalez, many nieces and nephews and one daughter-in-law Maritza Garcia.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Milagro Alvarez.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 5:00pm at the h2 Annex, 604 Market Street, Sunbury with Pastor Mark Gittens officiating.
Contributions in Carmen's memory may be made to Love Chapel Christian Outreach, 1325 W. Eleventh Street, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
Arrangements are by the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Street, Sunbury.
