Steward S Brosius

Steward S. Brosius, 93, of Strasburg, went home to be with the Christ the Lord on Wednesday, December 20, 2017.  He was born July 24, 1924, in Union County, a son of the late Clair E. and Theresa (Shaffer) Brosius, and stepmother, Jennie Brosius.

He was married to Betty Taylor July 2, 1949 who preceded him in death in January 2015.  Returning from Germany at the conclusion of World War II he attended and graduated from Penn State University in 1952 with a degree in political science.

 Upon graduation, Major Brosius became a career UASF officer with prior service in the Second World and later in Viet Nam. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star for meritorlous service during the 1968 Tet offensive The bulk of his military serviced was spent in military intelligence at the Pentagon until his retirement in 1970. After a period of years of working for the Virginia University system, he and Betty settled in Strasburg, Pennnsylvania in 1985 where they lived the remainder of their lives.'.

Stew enjoyed golf over all else which he played throughout his life and most veraciously in his retirement years nearly to the end.

He is survived by one son, Keith Brosius and wife Andrea Leontire, of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Ruth Brosius and husband Herman Reiner, of New Hope, PA; one granddaughter, Alexandra Brosius; two sisters, Violet Gemberling, of Sunbury, Avis Brosius, of Harrisburg; one sister-in-law, Alvesta Brosius, of Selinsgrove; and two brothers, Eugene Brosius, of Northumberland and Gerald Brosius, of Poconos.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Carson, and Bernard Brosius, and three sisters, Kathryn Auman, Emma Schnoepfher and Lena Eberly.

A viewing will be held from noon until 1 pm. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury, with the funeral service at 1 pm.
