Steven H Olofson

Steven  H. Olofson, 61, of Sunbury passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends on July 4, 2018. Steven was born in Jamestown NY on August 7, 1956, the son of the late Oscar and Barbara (Bensink) Olofson who survives.

Steven was a 1974 graduate of Falconer HS. He then attended the University of Colorado.

He was employed as an Architectural Engineer for Hopes Windows in NY, then with Windovations for eleven years, locally he worked in the IT department at Geisinger from 2006 to present. 

Steven was a Friend of Priestley Chapel Associates, he was a lifelong Methodist and lay minister, he sang and conducted the Lehigh Valley Gay Men’s Chorus from 1999-2004.

Being an avid musician, he was a vocalist, played guitar, and produced his own YouTube channel. As an artist, he baked and decorated cakes, worked with building and refinishing furniture, created pen and ink drawings with watercolor paint, and was also a photographer. He mastered many trades, a master of puns, and was a tech rescuer. Those who knew him called him the sweetest man who ever lived.

He is survived by his partner of twenty-nine years, Robert A. Roush, whom he married on July 12, 2014, his mother Barbara Olofson of SC, brother. Eugene of NY and Bruce of SC, Robert’s parents and sister Richard and Ruth Roush and Kathleen Gansemer all of Rochester, NY, and Madeline Sophie the Faithful Beagle.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 9, 2018, at 11 am at the UUCSV 265 Point Township Rd., Northumberland, PA with the Rev. Ann Keeler Evans officiating.
