Roy Raker Obituary

Roy E. Raker, 71, of  Market St. Sunbury, PA passed away on November 7, 2018 at 2:45 am at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Roy was born at his home in Shamokin, PA  on July 27, 1947 a son of the late Calvin S. and Gladys M. (Herrold) Raker.

Roy attended Shikellamy High School.

On September 14, 1963 he married the former Peggy L. Gaugler. Together they shared 55 years of marriage. He was a self employed contractor, he also retired from Paulson Wire and Rope.

Roy enjoyed shooting pool, hunting, spending time with his family and grilling hamburgers outside. He was a homebody who worked around the house along with his other daily activities. He also enjoyed buffalo wings, listening to country music, and playing with his dogs whom he was fond of

Roy  is survived by his wife Peggy L. Raker, son Roy E. Raker, Jr. of Sunbury, daughter, Cindy L. Kelley, of Danville, one son in law, Colin P. Kelley, of Danville, four grandchildren; Nathan T. Stuck, Ashley D. Faust, Steven J. Kelley, Caitlin M. Kelley, seven great grandchildren, sister Arlene M. and Eugene Heddings of Northumberland, and brother Richard L. and Bonnie Raker of Northumberland.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Calvin and James Raker.

Friends and family may visit the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury, PA from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. An 11 am. memorial service will follow with Chaplain Rev. Timothy Kinney officiating.
