Robert Blaisdell Obituary

 

Robert M. Blaisdell, 83, of Northumberland, passed away at Nottingham Nursing Home on May 24, 2018. He was born in Sunbury on November 3, 1934 the son of the late Byron and Florine (Kelly) Blaisdell.

He married Margaret H. DiRocco on November 28, 1954 who passed in 2009

Bob graduated Sunbury HS in 1953. He was employed at Celotex in maintenance for 40 years.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Americus Hose Co., and the Northumberland #1s. He was a number one Phillies and Eagles sportsfan!

 

Bob loved sports and was a three star athlete in HIgh School playing baseball, football and basketball (his nickname was Gunner). He later played softball for the Norry Moose, and he bowled for Legion Post #44 in league play. He was an honorary coach of his grandson’s Legion baseball team. He coached Ivy League football, and found joy in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

 

He is survived by his children Robin and John Heintzelman of Northumberland, and Lori J. and Ricky Stevens of Northumberland, grandchildren: Heather and Chad Stover, Jon and Brandi Heintzelman, Rikki Grenot, Bobbi Jo and Richard Hamilton, Great grandchildren: Elijah, Emma, Colt, Nora Jo, Liam, Remi Shea, step grandchildren Jathan and Shawn, Step Son Taylor. brother Larry D. Blaisdell of Sunbury and beloved cousin Joanne Hartman, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings: Gordon, Mary, Marna, Homer, Leonard, Raymond, and Judith.

 

He truly loved his friends and caregivers at Emmanuel and Nottingham homes.

 

Friends and family may visit the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc.  157 Chestnut St. Sunbury from 11:30 am until 1 pm on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. A Funeral service will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Kris Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery Northumberland, PA.
