Nettie S. Hoffman, formerly Nettie Snyder, 79, of Sunbury, marched her way to the Lord on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, surrounded by family. Nettie was born on July 29, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Donald Snyder and Anna (Wise) Mahlon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two siblings, Janice Schlegel of Dalmatia and Donald Snyder of Watsontown.
She was a 1955 graduate of Sunbury High School where she loved serving as the head majorette of the marching band. She was also named Miss Selinsgrove Fair of 1954. She married the love of her life in 1955 and spent 62 years by his side.
Nettie worked for Sunbury Textile Mill up until her retirement in 1998.
Nettie dedicated her life to her family. She loved spending time with family and friends gathered around food, fun and laughter. She passed along her love of good food and family values to her children and grandchildren, sharing family recipes and life stories. She would make sure you never left her home hungry or unhappy. She especially loved spending time with her great grandchildren, showering them with love and affection. Nettie was always quick with a joke or a funny look to make you smile when you were down. The love and laughter she brought to the lives she touched will never be forgotten.
Surviving are her husband, Mark Hoffman, Sr., two sons and spouses, Mark Hoffman, Jr. and his wife Donna of Sunbury, Kenneth Hoffman and long time companion Jenny Neidig of Sunbury; five grandchildren and their spouses; Desiree Hoffman of Washington, D.C. Nichole (Hoffman) and Richard Irving of Phoenix, AZ; Tiffani (Hoffman) and Michael Wernett of Sunbury, Andrew Hoffman and Cara of Flagler Beach, FL, and Marissa (Hoffman) and Joseph Teisher of Sunbury. She is also survived by her beautiful five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury on Saturday from 9 to 11 am. A funeral service will be held at 11 am. with Pastor Donald Snyder, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Herndon Cemetery in Herndon, PA.
