June C (Bostain) Simpson

June C. Simpson, 90, of Sunbury passed away peacefully at Geisinger Medical Center on March 16, 2018.

She was born in Sunbury, PA on February 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Harold W. and Catherine E. (Moyer) Bostain.

She graduated in 1946 from Sunbury HS.  On July 28, 1948 she married the love of her life George E. Simpson III.

She was employed at Westinghouse, and then as a Teacher’s Aide for Shikellamy School District, retiring in June of 1991.  

She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, singing in the church choir for 64 years. She sang in Susquehanna Valley Choral. She was an avid dancer, loving to jitterbug and amateur ballroom dance with George. She loved to travel, cook, and spend time with loved ones. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was active with her HS class of 1946. She will be dearly missed by many, including her beloved “Ginger.”

She is survived by daughters Catherine A. Dunbar of Shamokin Dam, Christine M. Reed and companion Jon Ohman of Milford, DE, grandchildren: Richard F. Zechman, Jr. and wife Tracey of Sunbury, Andrea L. Zechman and husband Tim Wedge of Charlottesville VA, Elizabeth Remm and husband David of Mechanicsburg, and six great grandchildren: Collin, Dillon, Evie, Violet, Lukas, and Lucie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband.

Friends and family may visit at the Trinity Lutheran Church 900 Susquehanna Ave. Sunbury on Monday, March 26, 2018, from 9:30 until 10:30 am, with memorial service officiated by Pastor Rev. Mary Peterhaensel directly following.

Interment will be at Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, PA.
