Jean Mattern Obituary

Jean L. Mattern, 79, of Selinsgrove, passed away peacefully at her home on October 15, 2018.

Jean was born at home in Selinsgrove on March 30, 1939 a daughter of the late Leon and Alberta (Pontius) Long.  She was married to Darwin B. Mattern for 33 years.

Jean lived in Sunbury and Selinsgrove and retired from the Selinsgrove Center. She liked to travel, visiting: Germany, Italy, Turkey, California, New York, and New Mexico. Jean enjoyed camping with her husband in their camper. She enjoyed making crafts and cards spending a lot of time with Mandy, as well as her grandchildren, family and friends.

Jean is survived by her husband, Darwin, two daughters and their husbands, Pam and Jim Thorpe of Mifflinburg and Tina and Todd Buckles of Selinsgrove, seven grandchildren, Amanda (Mandy) Eisenhauer, Brittany Shaffer, Hannah Buckles, Jeremy Schieber, Ashley Thorpe, and Chad Thorpe, 5 great grandchildren, brother Dennis Long, sister Roxanne Kerstetter and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Connie Kratzer and Karen Fenstermacher, brother Gary Long and grandson Todd Eisenhauer.

Friends and family may visit the Susquehanna Valley Church of Christ, 200 Roosevelt Ave. Selinsgrove on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 11 am until 1 o’clock funeral service with Pastor Rodney Nulph officiating.
