Irene E. (Bickel) Kalcich

Sunbury - Irene E. Kalcich, 91 of Riverfront Apartments passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at "The Mansion" Nursing Home.
Irene was born December 11, 1927 in Sunbury a daughter of the late Henry and Irene (Poff) Bickel. In May of 1948 she married John Kalcich who preceded her in death in June of 1963.
Irene was a graduate of Sunbury High School. She was employed at local businesses including; Champ Hats, Mary MacIntosh and lastly, The Daily Item.
She was a longtime member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Sunbury where she was a faithful giver.
She enjoyed camping, time at the cabin, traveling and playing cards with family and friends. As the family patriarch, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family. 
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, James Kalcich of Sunbury, Jeff and Carla Kalcich of Northumberland, two daughters, Janet Reichner and companion, Rich Byers, Jenny Neidig and companion, Kenneth Hoffman all of Sunbury, five grandchildren, Jennifer, Amber, Nathan, Casey and Jimmy, seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Corey, Kaden, Tamia, Abby, Rodney "Khiwan" and Mason and two sisters, Roberta Meiser and Anna Derr both of Selinsgrove.
Preceding her in death were; son, John Kalcich, daughter, Jill Kalcich, in infancy, brothers, Robert, Harry, Frank, George, Ronnie and Tom Bickel, a brother in infancy, sisters, Jean Eichner and Jane Foust and longtime companion, John "Donald" Hollenbach.
Friends and family may call from 1:00pm to 2:00pm Friday at the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury where funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Father Fred Wangwe AJ officiating.
Burial will be in Pomfert Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
