Dorothy Beaver Obituary

Dorothy A. Beaver, 78, of N. 12th Street, Sunbury, passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday morning, July 29th, 2019 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

She was born June 9, 1941, in Sunbury PA, a daughter of the late John Robert and Laura (Willard) Fenstermacher. In 1960 she married her former husband Robert A. Beaver, who preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2015.

“Dottie” was a 1959 graduate of Sunbury High School. She was an active member of the Class of 59’ reunion committee up until the start of her illness.

Dottie has been a longstanding member of the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Sunbury, since the 1960s, where she served on the Music and Worship Committee, taught Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir, and was an Altar Guild.

Dottie was employed as a Switchboard Operator and Registration Clerk for Sunbury Community Hospital for over 40 years and made numerous friends through her interactions with staff, patients and visitors. Her ever smiling face could mostly be seen behind the switchboard glass, in the halls or back in her office.

She enjoyed cooking/baking for her friends and family, especially Christmas cookie baking excursions with her daughters, traveling to Duck NC with her girlfriends and entertaining family and friends by her pool in Sunbury.  In her early years she was an avid bowler.

Surviving are her three children, Linda Ulrich and Alan Wolfe of Winfield, Jere Beaver of Sunbury and Laurie and Donald Eckrod of Mclean VA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Wesley (Erin) and Maggi Parker, Ang (Josh) Anspach, Alan Wolfe Jr. and Lauren Greenfield, Jeremy (Karissa) Beaver, Andrea (Andy) Flythe, Alexia (Joseph) Handy, Donald III, Hunter and Erika Eckrod, and her eight great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Kailin, Rylie, Carter, Landon, Jack, Phoenix and Layla. Also surviving is brother John R. “Jack” Fenstermacher Jr., sister Sandra “Sandy” Nave and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dottie was preceded in death by brothers, James and David Fenstermacher, and sister Jean Seasholtz.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday August 10, 2019 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 501 Catawissa Ave., with Visitation/Luncheon immediately following in the church basement.  Pastor Ann Zimmerman shall be officiating.
