Charles E. Betsker

September 26, 1922 ~ January 3, 2018 (age 95) 95 Years Old


Charles E. Betsker, 95, of Catawissa passed away on January 3, 2018 in Grandview Nursing Home in Danville .  He was born in New Berlin September 26, 1922 the son of the late Irving and Lydia Betsker.  He married Ruth (Ressler) Betsker February 27, 1948, who passed in 2005.

Charles attended St Luke's Lutheran Church in Sunbury. Charles was a member of the Sunbury Masonic Lodge #22. He was an avid baseball player in his youth. He would often enjoy fishing and hunted with his dog, King. Charles worked for PPL the majority of his career and retired in the 1980's.

Charles served in WWII, and was a “D” Day Veteran. He came ashore on June 6, 1944 on the 1st Day of the Invasion on Utah Beach at 10 AM with the 474th AAA (Anti Aircraft) Battalion. This group was later assigned to George Patton's Army as they proceeded into France.

Charles enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He often met with his friends for morning coffee in Sunbury and Catawissa.


Charles is survived by his son Brent C. Betsker, daughter Diane & her husband Al PraSisto, Charles's grandchildren Eric, and Nicole and her husband Dave Devonshire, and their children Charles, Gregory, and baby Vivian.

Charles is also survived by his sister Ann Kline, her son Roger and family. Also, his brother Luther Betsker and his children, Paula, Pamela, Steven and their families.


Friends and family may visit the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury on Wednesday from noon to 1 pm, with a funeral service 
at 1 pm. Interment will follow at the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, PA.  Condolences may be made at davidzweierfuneralhome.com.
