Surrounded by her family, Luella “Lou” Pauline (Ray) Zerbe of 131 Ridgway, Nottingham Village, Northumberland, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024.
Lou left this earth to be with her beloved husband, Jim, of 63 years.
Born on Feb. 3, 1934, the daughter of Helen Irene (Ray) Frick, she lived a life of purpose and adventure and loved to travel. She retired from the Selinsgrove Center in 1994.
Together, with Jim at the helm, she ventured on her retirement road trip — driving from Pennsylvania to Costa Rica. Other adventures included trips to Alaska/Yukon/Northwest territories in a fifth wheel and travels through South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti and Bora-Bora.
However, Lou’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Deb Zerbe, of Sunbury; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Joe Makowski, of Virginia; grandson, Brett Walter and his wife, Deena; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Sydney.
Lou was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Kyle Walter.
To honor our mother’s wishes, there will be no service. We invite those who knew and loved her to celebrate Lou in your own way. We know that she is with all of us in spirit and our memories.
Words cannot express how grateful we are for the kind and loving care that was given to our mother in her final days by the Geisinger Hospice team.
Since flowers will fade, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Geisinger Hospice, 1253 North Susquehanna Trail, Suite 102, Selinsgrove, PA 17870, or through a contribution to your favorite charity in Lou’s memory.
