William J. "Bill" Burk, Sr., died in his home Jan. 8, 2013 after a long illness.

Bill was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on Dec. 12, 1925, The son of the late Joseph & Mary (Ferry) Burk. He is survived by his wife of 59 yrs. Regina Gordon Burk. Children surviving are daughter & husband Regina & Dave Bordner of Westminister, Md., Sons William "Bill" & Shauna, Timothy & wife Judy, & Thomas "TJ" & his wife Jackie, all of Sunbury, Gerard "Gerry" & Wendy of Winfield, & Michael & Seena Franklin of Tiverton, Rhode Island. 11 Grandchildren Ryan & Melissa Bordner, Kelly McAuley, Gordon, Kacie, Jason, Elizabeth, Kyle, Marni, Seth & Caleb Burk. Great Grandchildren Liam & Audrey Burk. Sisters Anne Greene of N.C., Theresa Marie Rossino of Philadelphia, Marie McCausland of Florida, & brothers John "Jack" Burk of Sumerspoint, NJ., & Ray Borsari of California.

Preceding him in death Sister Betty Molinaro & brothers Joseph "Buddy" Burk & Donald Borsari.

Bill was a high school track star at Eddystone High School and was a plank owner on the USS Boxer on which he served as Aviation Bosun's Mate 3rd Class during & following WW II.

Bill worked in several different fields, the vast Oil Tank Fields in Philadelphia, for Sunoco, as a part-time police officer in Folcroft, for the American Stores as a butcher and for 26 yrs as a USDA Food Inspector.

Bill was an active parishioner at St. Michael the Archangel ( Now St. Monica's) Church in Sunbury. He was a Boy Scout Leader. member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Church Council, a lector, and an Extraordinary Minister. For many years he and Regina ran the St. Michael's/Monica's Funeral Meals Program (Martha's Helping Hands), serving food to those dealing with loss. He also helped at the Basilica of Saints Cyril and Methodius in thanks for the loving care they provided for his mother at their nursing home during the last years of her life. Also active in his union, the National Association of Government Employees and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees where he served as treasurer.

Bill loved his family and spent as much time with all of them as he could. Bill attended more events for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren than anyone could count.

Relatives and friends may attend a wake from 10 A.M. until 11:45 A.M. on Friday at St. Monica Church Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11. Fr. Joseph H. Fennessy will be the celebrant and burial will follow at Northumberland Memorial Park, Sunbury.

In lieu of flowers contributions should be made to Sisters of Saints Cyril & Methodius, Danville, Pa., St. Monica Church, or North Central Dialysis Center, Lewisburg, Pa.

Mike and family, so sorry for your loss.
My mom's birthday was the 8th. While she was at peace, it is never the right time to lose a parent.
