Thomas L. Isenberg

May 20, 1943 ~ December 22, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Thomas L. Isenberg, 74, of Dillsburg, PA passed away at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA on December 22, 2017.

 

Born in Reading, PA on May 20, 1943, Tom was the sixth of seven children born to the late Harry M. Isenberg and Frances E. (Malone) Isenberg.  Tom was proud to have been raised, lived and later raise his own family in the Third Ward of Sunbury, PA.  He later retired to Little River, SC where he spent his time golfing and visiting with friends.

 

Tom graduated from Sunbury High School in 1962 and joined the US Marine Corps serving domestically and overseas  in Vietnam.  Not quite suited for a desk job, Tom proudly served as a PA State Trooper for 21 years before retiring from the State Police in 1992.  On November 5, 1966, he was made an honest man when he married Ann M. Moyer, also of Sunbury, PA.  Together they raised two children and remained married for over 51 years until his passing. 

 

Tom was a life member of the Americus Hose Co., the Sunbury Social Club, the Retired State Troopers Association, the Little River, SC Elks, the Myrtle Beach, SC VFW and the Little River, SC American Legion #186.  Tom was an avid golfer, Penn State football fan and loved to spend time boating and fishing on the Susquehanna River.

 

In addition to his loving wife, Tom is survived by his son Thomas Isenberg, Jr. and his wife Kelly, daughter Alexis Isenberg and three grandchildren, Grace Isenberg, Thomas Isenberg, III and Brynn Hilbish, all of Dillsburg, PA.  Together with numerous nieces and nephews, he is also survived by four siblings, Anne Doebler of Lewisburg, Richard Isenberg of Milton, Harriet Hoover of El Paso, TX and James Isenberg of Northumberland, PA.  Tom was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Harry Isenberg and Helen Kramer.

 

Friends and family may visit the David T. Zweier Funeral Home at 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury on Saturday December 30, 2017 from 1 to 2 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 2 pm.  Interment will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  Condolences may be made at davidzweierfuneralhome.com. and in lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be made to the Hospice Wing of the VA Medical Center, Lebanon, PA.
