Lorraine F (Pyers) Watson

Lorraine F. Watson, 94, of 723 Catawissa Ave. Sunbury, PA passed away at her home on May 1, 2017. She was born in Sunbury on February 10, 1923 the daughter to the late Harvey and Ruth (Sandler) Pyers.

Lorraine graduated Sunbury High School in 1941 and married the late Stewart R. Watson on July 19 of the same year. During her working career she was a book-keepr at the First National Bank and later became the first woman office manager at Wilson Manufacturing. In addition to being a loving wife and mother Lorraine filled her life with volunteer service. She served at the Sunbury Community Hospital, and assisted in the start of Haven Ministries, also serving on their board. She taught Sunday School at her church, the Otterbein United Methodist, for thirty years where she also served on the board of the Nursery School and was in the United Methodist Women’s group where she did summer inner city mission work. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and she was a tour guide with the Northumberland County Historical Society.

Lorraine is survived by her children: Sharon L. and James P. Garman of Sunbury, Stewart R. Watson, Jr. of Sunbury, three grandchildren: Angela Garman, Greg Garman, and Eric Watson, four great grandchildren: Lauren Randles, Colin Randles, Brandy Watson and Eric Watson, Jr, three great great grandchildren: Alexiz Watson, Braylin Wright and Mason Fisher. Also surviving were her siblings: Fred Pyers of Sunbury, Jean Brown of Sunbury, Joan Stanton of Sunbury, Connie and Larry Mensch of Milton, “second-daughter” Lanny Davis, and nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Terry Lee Watson, grandson Justin Watson, siblings: Elizabeth Buckoff, Inez Bingaman, Tom Pyers, Bobby Pyers, Jake Pyers and Donald Pyers.

Friends and family may visit the Otterbein United Methodist Church 4th and Vine Sts. Sunbury, PA on Saturday from 9 to 11 am. A funeral service will be held at 11 am. With the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Gunter officiating. Interment will follow at the Pomfret Manor Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the church. Arrangements are made David T. A Private Family Service will be held in the Funeral Home at the convenience of the Family.
