Lawrence R ."Dick" Knecht

Lawrence R.  "Dick" Knecht, 92, of Selinsgrove, passed away on January 27, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center. He was born in Sunbury on June 5, 1925 the son of the late Lawrence H. And Clara E. (Seal) Knecht.
He married Marie A. Sassaman,who survives, on June 18, 1947, his passing marks a 71 year marriage. 
“Dick” attended Sunbury High School prior to enlisting in the Navy during WW II. He returned and attended Susquehanna University. He then worked for Conrail retiring after 34 years. 
He was a life member of the Selinsgrove American Legion, VFW, and Masonic Lodge #22, Sunbury. He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife Marie Knecht, brother Franklin W. Seal, Jr. and his wife Loretta of Wrightsville, PA, nephews Kriss Seal of Phoenixville, Daniel Sassaman of Port Trevorton, and niece Susan Taylor of Cincinnati, OH and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Richard “Dickie” Lee Knecht. 
Friends and family may visit from 10-11 am on Wednesday at the David T Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11 am with Rev. Richard Fangmann officiating. Interment will be at the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, PA. Memorial contributions my be made to the Masonic Lodge #22 220 Market St. Sunbury, PA.
