James A. McKinney, 82, of Chestnut St. Sunbury, passed away at the Williamsport Hospital on February 15, 2018.
He was born in Sunbury on February 1, 1936 the son of the late William A. and Florence A. (Oyster) McKinney.
He graduated Sunbury High School in 1954. He married Barbara A. Lewis on August 7, 1955.
He was a dedicated employee of Weis Markets for 39 years, working at the Market Street location. Jim delighted in volunteering in his community, including Sunbury Community Hospital, Meals on Wheels, as well as calling bingo and spending time with people at Manor Care. He was known in the community for his homemade candy and peanut brittle. He was an active member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Sunbury, PA.
He is survived by his children: Candace A. and Steve Willard of Paxinos, Randal A. and Crystale McKinney of Linglestown, Todd A. and Stephanie McKinney of Sunbury, five grandchildren: Katie, Lauren, David, Nicholas, and Ashleigh, two great grandchildren Lila and Emily, and loving companion Kay Minier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara A. McKinney, and brother William A. McKinney.
Friends and family may visit the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury, PA. on Saturday February 24 at 9 am until the memorial service at 11 am with Rev. Ronald Troup officiating. Interment will follow at the Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, PA.
