J.Catherine "Cathye" (Weaver) Hafer

J. Catherine “Cathye” Hafer, 87, of 188 School House La. Selinsgrove, PA passed away October 17, 2016 at Riverwoods in Lewisburg. Catherine was born in Shamokin, PA on March 3, 1929 the daughter of the late Donald and Helen (Roth) Weaver.
Catherine graduated from Sunbury High School in 1947. She married Donald B. Hafer, who survives, on December 5, 1948 and they spent 68 years together. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church (formerly St. John’s).
Cathye began her working career while in High School as an office clerk for Miller’s Furniture in Sunbury from 1946 to 1965. Cathye then owned and operated the Doni-Kay Salon of Beauty Shop on Market St., Sunbury from 1965-1970. She was a realtor from 1970-1978. When she and Donald moved to Florida she worked for Sears from 1978-1993. She enjoyed sewing and making crafts. Cathye dearly loved her family.
Surviving are her husband Donald B. Hafer of Selinsgrove, son Stephen A. and his wife Linda of Sunbury, son Gregory L. and his wife Cathy of Winfield, and son Daniel R. and partner Ralph Hafer of San Francisco, CA. Also of surviving are five grandchildren, ten great grand children, brother Donald Weaver of Little Rock, AR, brother Ned Weaver of Millmont, a sister Dorothy Auman and eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews.
Friends and family may call at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury, PA on Saturday from 10 am to 11 am. with a funeral service at 11 am. officiated by Pastor Ronald Troup. Interment will follow at Northumberland Memorial Park Stonington, PA.
