Harold "Pete" M Gross

June 8, 1930 ~ November 11, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

 

Harold “Pete” M. Gross, 87, of Northumberland, passed away at Geisinger Medical Center on November 11, 2017.  Pete was born in Northumberland on June 8, 1930 the son of the late Stoddard and Winifred Fry Gross.

Pete was a 1948 graduate of Northumberland High School. He married Ruth Frymoyer on   November 23,1950. He served in the US Army National Guard Artilary from 1950-1952. He worked at Champ Hats, Rea and Derrick and CVS during his career retiring in 1990.  He was a life member of Christ UMC Northumberland. He was a long time member of Norry Gun Club where he enjoyed shooting and spending time with friends. Hobbies included hunting, wood working, building and flying model airplanes  In his later years he enjoyed being outside and greeting people as they came to Nottingham. However, his greatest joy was his family and grandchildren. 

Pete is survived by his two daughters, Susan and husband Wade Duttinger of Selinsgrove,  Janet and her husband Kevin Yordy of Milton, grandchildren: Chris Campbell and his partner Angela Schreffler-Evans, Tara Snyder and her fiancé Richard Reitz, Brett Yordy and his wife Jaime, Trisha Rabb and her husband Matthew, and six great grandchildren Bruce and Rachael Snyder, Ryan and Cara Yordy, Hannah and Gage Rabb and two brothers in law Edward Frymoyer and Robert (Bob) and Holly Frymoyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruth Frymoyer Gross who passed August 8, 2006, and brother Arthur Eugene Gross.

Friends and family may call at the Christ United Methodist Church Front and Kings Sts., Northumberland, PA on Friday November 17 from 3 until 4 pm.  A 4 pm memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Joan Dobson and assisted by Pastor Byron Weaver. Interment will be at the family’s convenience.
