Eugene "Noot" F Deibler

Eugene F. “Noot” Deibler, 71, of 1040 Market St. Sunbury, passed away on June 22, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center. Noot was born on July 5, 1945 the son of the late Girard F. and Sarah H. (Bordner) Deibler.

Noot was a 1963 graduate of Sunbury High School. He was a teacher’s aide at the Shikellamy High School for over thirty years.

Noot had a compassionate and dedicated love to work with and encourage children and youth throughout his entire life. He coached Little League Baseball, he coached Ivy League Football, he was a successful coach of the Boys and Girls bowling teams for Shikellamy High School. Noot was the voice of Shikellamy Varsity Football home games for many years. For years he was in charge of the Junior Fire-fighters training program at the Goodwill Hose Co., where he was a member along with memberships at the Shamokin Dam and Kratzerville Fire Companies. He attended Brookside Ministries.

Noot was an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Universities of Alabama, Oklahoma, Louisville and Notre Dame. He enjoyed long car rides and going out to eat.

Noot is survived by his sister Phyllis and her husband Jim Gordon of Sunbury, brother Girard F. “Lefty” Deibler of Sunbury, sister Linda L. and her husband John McCormick of Watsontown, his life long friend and caretaker John Gessner of Sunbury, nieces and nephews: Jamie, Jimmy, Jodi, Josh, Randy, Frank, Jennifer, Angie, Jason, Chad, and Adam, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may visit the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury on Monday from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Brookside Ministries 11 Stetler Ave. Shamokin Dam on Tuesday at11 am. with Pastor Jerry Hellman officiating. Interment will follow at the Northumberland Memorial Park in Stonington, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Brookside Ministries 11 Stetler Ave. Shamokin Dam, PA 17876.
