Earl V Comfort

 Earl V. Comfort, 88, of 670 Comfort Rd., Sunbury, PA passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends  October 15, 2017.  Earl was born in Rockefeller Township on June 13, 1929 the son of the late George W. and Selah Moyer Comfort. 

Earl married the late Dorcas Kline on June 25, 1951, she passed October 27, 1973.  He was a farmer early in his working career until he and his brothers opened Comfort Brothers in 1952 which is still operated.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman traveling to Alaska, Colorado, Canada and other destinations to hunt and fish.  He loved to see the Elk in Pennsylvania and spending time at the family cabin in Clinton County.  He was a member of the Friendship Hose Co. and the Sunbury Moose.

Earl is survived by his daughter Sheila and her husband Larry Leitzel of Sunbury, son Earl “Sonny” and his wife Holly Comfort Jr. of Sunbury, eight grandchildren: Dana Kelly, Chad Leitzel, Pamela McGuinness, Amy McCrea, Kevin Leitzel, Susan Carst, Malena Faust and Chrissy Comfort; twelve great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Wilmer Comfort in 1994, his companion Peggy Follmer in August 2017 and siblings: Amber Krumbine, Carton Comfort, George "Walter" Comfort, Helen Trawitz and Thomas “Ray” Comfort.  

Friends and family may visit the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury, PA on Wednesday October 18, 2017 from 10 to 11 am followed by a memorial service with Pastor Richard Earl officiating.  Interment will be at the Montandon Cemetery, Montandon, PA
