David T Moore

David T. Moore, 63, of 155 Fairmount Ave., Sunbury, PA passed away from acute leukemia at Geisinger Medical Center on July 12, 2017. He was born in Shamokin on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1954 the son of William T. and Joyce (Derk) Moore of Turbotville.
Dave graduated from Warrior Run High School in 1972 and married Loretta Harmon on December 8, 1973 in Williamsport.
Dave was self-employed and was a restoration mechanic by trade and was always fixing, restoring, or customizing a car.  However, it was his love for the gospel, music, and people that lead him to be a musical evangelist. He served as a volunteer chaplain and counselor at the Snyder County Prison, conducted Alcoholics Victorious meetings, and discipleship classes. He also worked for the juvenile probation foster care department. In addition to restoring cars Dave enjoyed playing guitar and fishing.
Dave loved his family and church family at the First Baptist Church of Sunbury where he attended and was a member for many years.
In addition to his wife and parents, Dave is survived by his two daughters and their husbands: Maggie and Chris Kurtz of Sunbury, and Mary-Grace and Dan Rearden of of Sunbury; three grandchildren: Nigel, Coral and Rad. Also surviving were his siblings: Gale Tuomisto of Northumberland, Bill Moore of West Hazleton, and Cathy Moore of Montgomery; Aunt Leanna Derk of Milton, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit the First Baptist Church of Sunbury at the corner of 4th and Chestnut Sts. Sunbury, PA on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 5 to 6 pm. A memorial service will follow at 6 pm. with the Rev. David Dressler officiating.
