Bonnie L. (Zimmerman) Underkoffler

Bonnie L. Underkoffler, 82, of Sunbury, went home to be with her Heavenly Father at the Sunbury Health and Rehab Center, on April 11, 2018. She was born in Sunbury on March 22, 1936 the daughter of the late Nevin and Priscilla Zimmerman.

She spent her formative years in Alexandria, VA. At age 15 she moved to Mountain Top, PA where she graduated Fairview High School. After graduation she worked at the Wilkes-Barre YMCA until moving back to Sunbury in 1958. She then became the secretary at Zion Lutheran Church for over 25 years.

One of the greatest benefits of working at Zion was meeting and marrying her beloved husband Owen. She and Owen were very involved in their church. She was a Sunday School teacher, a Girl Scout Leader, on the altar committee, and worship and music committee.

After retiring she attended yoga classes, volunteered for both Meals on Wheels and her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985.

She is survived by her two sisters Catharine Zimmerman and Elizabeth Haslam and husband Richard, two beloved nieces Kera Haslam and Richel Haslam-Hemmer and husband John, three great nieces, whom she adored, Kaylee and Olivia Croasmun and Emmaline Hemmer; and her two kitty children, Micah and Moses.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury.

She married the late Owen W. Underkoffler who passed June 24, 1985.

Friends and family may call on Monday, April 16, 2018,  from 10-11 am at Zion Lutheran Church 15 S. 5th St., Sunbury. A funeral service will be held at 11 am . with Pastor Richard Fangmann. Interment will follow at the Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, PA.
