Arlene M (Mayo) Willard

Arlene M. (Mayo) Willard, 85, of 1534 Spring Knoll Ct, Harrisburg, former longtime resident of Sunbury, passed away on Saturday November 18, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born July 8, 1932 in Lewiston, ME the oldest daughter of the late Lawrence F. and Teresa A. (Sullivan) Mayo.

On June 10, 1950 she married the late Robert G. Willard who died March 2012 breaking a union of nearly sixty-two years.

Arlene’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing and especially quilting.  She hand made quilts for all her children and many of her extended family. She loved flowers!

She was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, Harrisburg.

She is survived by nine children, Robert L. Willard of Birmingham AL, Lawrence C. Willard of Brewster, NY, Bonita A. Reichenbach, with whom she lived, of Harrisburg, Teresa A. Maust and husband David of Selinsgrove, Mark A. Willard and husband Russell Parrott of Phoenix, MD, Tina L. Leitzel of Selinsgrove, Eileen E. Cook and husband Timothy of Selinsgrove,  Tammy C. Meeker and husband Joseph of Mocksville, NC, and David G. Willard and wife Jennifer of Palmyra; eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; sisters Barbara Giffin of FL and Kathleen Algerio-Picardo of NV, brother Michael Mayo of FL,  sisters-in-law Julie Mayo of Northumberland, and MaryAnn Mayo of NJ, brother-in-law Richard Willard and his wife Norma of Sunbury, cousins and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by granddaughter Nicole Willard; four brothers: William, Thomas, Lawrence, and John Mayo, and brother-in-law Lester O. Willard.

Friends and family may call at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc., 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury on Friday from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church 112 Fairview Dr. Selinsgrove, PA on Saturday at noon with Fr. Tukura Pius Michael, O.P. officiating.  Interment will follow at the Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
