Alveretta K "Abby" (Reigle) Dunkin

Alveretta K. "Abby" Dunkin, 91, formerly of 1124 Miller St., Sunbury, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at ManorCare, Sunbury.
She was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Middleburg, a daughter of the late John and Verna B. (Hackenberg) Reigle. On May 2, 1981, she married Robert M. Dunkin who preceded in death in 1984.
Abby was a 1943 graduate of Sunbury High School with whom she remained active for the rest of her life, missing only two annual reunions.
She was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Strawser and Dr. Hill for 40 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church 120 Spruce St., Sunbury.
Abby loved traveling on bus trips, bowling, shopping for antiques, and working needlepoint. If you knew Abby you probably had a dish cloth she knitted. She loved children and had a wonderful sense of humor often expressed in Pennsylvania Dutch. 
She is survived by her stepchildren, June Clinton, of Hummelstown, Margaret M. and William C. Lawrence, of Sunbury, Dawn and Harold Raker, of Shamokin, Roberta Emanuel, of Camphill; her special friend and caretaker, Michael Fedder, of Sunbury, 21 stepgrandchildren; 21 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, Barbara DeFacis and Mary Lou Strunk.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 10:30, with Kurt P. Francis, staff pastor, officiating.
Interment is at the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
